1. What is the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center and Crown Golf Player of the Year program?
The Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year program recognizes the area’s best high school athletes for their accomplishments on and off the field. This year, a selection committee will evaluate the area’s top talent to choose one winner from each of the 13 UIL sports: Baseball, Basketball - Female and Male, Cross Country - Female and Male, Football, Golf - Female and Male, Soccer - Female and Male, Softball, Swimming & Diving - Female and Male, Team Tennis - Female and Male, Tennis - Female and Male, Track & Field - Female and Male, Volleyball, and Wrestling - Female and Male.
2. What sets the Player of the Year award apart?
This award recognizes student-athletes not only for outstanding athletic performance, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character and integrity in the area. This year the area’s top performing athletes chosen will be honored at an all sports reception at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts on May 15, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1110 West Debbie Lane, in Mansfield, TX 76063.
3. How are Players of the Year chosen?
The Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year award is presented to student-athletes not only for outstanding athletic performance, but also high standards of academic achievement, exemplary character and integrity. All final selections are determined by The Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year Selection Committee. The committee is a group of high school sports educators/administrators and area executives who have extensive experience assessing student-athletes based on their athletic statistics, GPAs and community service. This committee evaluates student-athletes by working closely with an extensive network of sources for each sport, including coaching and governing bodies.
4. Who can nominate a high school athlete?
Anyone can nominate a high school athlete for this award during open nominations. Coaches, Educators, Administrators, Community Leaders, Parents, Peers, and Sports Enthusiasts, are all welcome to recognize their outstanding athletes. Awards nominees must be athletes playing sports at one of the participating UIL schools in Arlington, Grand Prairie, Kennedale and Mansfield. Deadline for nominations: March 12, 2024 5 p.m.
5. Which 13 sports does the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Sports Awards Player of the Year award honor?
The 13 sports that the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year program recognizes are: Baseball, Basketball - Female and Male, Cross Country - Female and Male, Football, Golf - Female and Male, Soccer - Female and Male, Softball, Swimming & Diving - Female and Male, Team Tennis - Female and Male, Tennis - Female and Male, Track & Field - Female and Male, Volleyball, and Wrestling - Female and Male. The sports recognized by the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year program have the highest participation rates among American high school student athletes and are sanctioned by the UIL. Our hope is to continue to grow the award program in the future.
6. What does a Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year win?
All Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf winners will receive a trophy, a sign to display at their home or school, and recognition on the awards website.
7. Do Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Players of the Year receive scholarships?
No, Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Crown Golf Player of the Year winners do not receive scholarships.
